upgrade bike needs some more upgrades

Hi All

I've bought a full carbon 2005 TCR to replace my old alloy/carbon 1999 TCR.  I need to buy some pedals and shoes, any suggestions?

I also want to replace the wheelset that has come with the carbon TCR (ultegra hubs and casette with Mavic open pro rims) and use it on the old bike and then buy something tasty for the new TCR.

I want to spend no more than $800 (not really bike porn territory I know).  Can anyone help?

I can keep the ultegra casette for the new rims in order keep costs a bit lower.

cheers

Simon

Mate for the wheels.....go and see Greg Ryan from TWE (Two Wheels Enterprises)......Greg is a fantastic wheels builder and he can create wheels that just blow away any of the "Off the Rack" wheels.

TWO Taren Point Sydney.

Do yourself a favour and speak to Greg

Re: upgrade bike needs some more upgrades

Hi Simon,

Just to confirm your budget is $800 for new pedals, new shoes, and a new set of wheels? If this is the case, yep, it's going to be tight!

If you want to keep the hubs, you are looking at purchasing rims, spokes, and labour to build 'em. You can buy pre-built sets of Shimano WH-R550 or WH-R600...they are solid wheels at very affordable prices.

As for pedals, you can't beat 2006 shimano dura-ace pedals (maybe able to pick up a cheap pair from the net - ebay, etc).

With what's left after that (not much), I suggest going into a shop and trying things on. The different brands make very different shoes and fit totally different - I can't offer a recommendation as I believe it is more a comfort thing.

Hope something in all that helps...

Cheers
