Which Wheel?

I'm looking to upgrade my (triathlon) race wheels and have come across ZIPP 440's.  The ZIPP website gives details of 303s and 404's (which I see at most races) and several others, but not 440's.

Can anyone shed some light?  Are they early model 440s, or am I guessing wrong?

Thanks

Sax

Re: Which Wheel?
Yeah, the 440 is the first deep dish carbon wheel which Zipp brought out. It is a very reliable wheel, came with an assorted range of hubs, all usually of high quality but not all carbon. 440 meant 440 g which is not much more than 404 g. If you can find a set of 440s at a good price I would go for them. Only probs I new of was the occassional loosening of spokes with heavy riders. They were also tubular tyres only so for racing only. As usual make sure the hub is in good condition and bearings can be upgraded if necessary.

If you want a great pair of time trial / triathlons wheels you should look up Greg Ryan at TWE....(Two Wheel Enterprises) Greg is one of Australia's best wheel builders and can make stronger, lighter and stiffer wheels than any of the big brand names and at a much cheaper price........TWE operates out of Taren Point Sydney........
